There are no shopping facilities within walking distance of the apartment. In Langnau, however, there is the Ilfiscenter with a Coop, a pharmacy and so on, a Migros MM, the small organic food store Pfifouter, the zero-waste shop Frischpunkt and various specialist stores. Every Friday from 8 am to 11:30 am, the weekly market with mainly organic, seasonal and regional products is held on the Langnau Viehmarkt (cattle market square). There is a Denner and the farm shop Chäsi Wasen farm store in Wasen. In addition to the Gruyère cheese from the Fritzenhaus cheese dairy, which was crowned world champion in 2020 and 2022, there are many other regional delicacies to buy. Further there are many more different types of cheese, other dairy products, meat, vegetables, bread, and so on. In fact, everything one could need for everyday use. The self-service farm shop is open daily from 6 am to 9 pm.
For your breakfast there is always coffe and tea such as museli ready for you in the kitchen. Further there are mostly different types of home made bread you can buy from us (plaited loaf Berne style, honey walnut bread, muesli bread, ginger curcuma bread, two coloured lemon and wild garlic plaited loaf).
To round off a day in the mountains, either after a long and strenuous hike or a cozy snowy day on the sofa, guests are welcome to use the sauna for CHF 25.00 per use. We charge a fee of CHF 10.00 per person for hiring the sauna equipment (bathrobe, sauna towel, sauna slippers and warm woollen socks). Of course, you may also use your own equipment.
The Aemme-fit GmbH in Lützelflüh has a brine bath, the Romantik Hotel Bären in Dürrenroth has a lovely wellness area and the Hammam & Spa Oktogon in Bern is a wonderful place for a few relaxing hours.
In addition to countless hiking and biking trails that lead right past the house, the region of theEmmental offers a wide range of leisure activities, such as the Franz Gertsch Museum in Burgdorf, the art gallery Galerie Dürrenroth, the lovely shop and museum of the cookie factory Kambly Erlebnis in Trubschachen, the castles of Trachselwald and Burgdorf, the cinema cooperative Kinogenossenschaft Langnau with its alternative film programme in the Kupferschmiede in Langnau or the regional museum "Chüechlihus" in Langnau i. E. For a cold beer or a glass of wine in a cosy atmosphere, we recommend the Café Bar Käpt'n Holger in Langnau, where concerts, readings and other events also take place regularly. On weekdays, "Zum Topf" serves vegetarian dishes at lunchtime. For sports fans, a home game of the SCL Tigers, the only provincial club in Switzerland's top ice hockey league, is well worth a visit. In Langnau there is a indoor and outdoor swimming pool called "Moos". Lucerne, Bern and Thun are just a one hour's drive from the accommodation.
On our property there are many spots with tables and chairs, benches and armchairs to linger, relax and enjoy the breathtaking view. We are happy to share these places with our guests - make yourselves at home! However, both holiday apartments have a private, sheltered terasse right in front of their door, which is perfect for an undisturbed breakfast, raclette or fondue meal or simply for relaxing.
Your pets are very welcome and are allowed to roam freely in the accommodation. Both the apartment and the studio have a lockable outdoor area so that your four-legged friends can not run off unnoticed... Our two dogs Muffin (mostly) and Albert (always) are compatible with other dogs. But if, contrary to expectations, things don't work out, the dogs can easily get out of each other's way. Our four cats Emil, Tiger, Sanaa and Emilia also live in the Kobelhüttli. They are happy to visit our guests in the hope of getting a few cuddles.
Our kitchens are well equipped with everything you need to cook. Nevertheless, sometimes it's nice to be treated - especially on vacation. We can recommend the following restaurants full-hearted:
Various events take place in our neighbourhood throughout the year, offering something for every taste.
Theatre Langnau: Every two years (2023, 2025, 2027, etc.) in spring, the Langnau Theatre and Art Association invites you to the theatre in the Kupferschmiede in Langnau. The theatre group, which always performs in perfect stage German, is regarded as the best amateur theatre in the region.
Elite OpenAir: As part of the "Summer of Culture", this small but excellent open-air festival has established itself in the Langnau region. The festival, which will next take place from 4 to 7 July 2024, is basically free of charge, but those who wish can support the event by purchasing a cultural or patron's wristband.
Langnau Jazz Nights: Originally conceived in 1991 as a training week for jazz musicians, the festival has since established itself on the Swiss cultural agenda for jazz music and was awarded, among other honours, the Canton of Bern Culture Prize in 2007. In 2024, the festival will take place from 23 to 27 July.
Lüderen-Chilbi: Every second weekend in August, the annual traditionnal Swiss wrestling festival takes place on the meadow in front of the Panoramahotel Bärnsicht on Lüderenalp. The festival is accompanied by yodelling songs, the sound of the alphorn, flag-waving and a traditional Swiss folk band.
Thanks to the good internet connection, our retreat is also ideal for working. Video calls or sending large amounts of data are no problem at all. There is neither a television in the studio nor in the apartment.
The Langnau fairs are legendary - and old: the market was first mentioned in a document in 1467. The colourful range of goods on offer vary from braces to homemade items and cosmetics - and culinary delights from traditional bratwurst to churros and spring rolls.
The following fairs are scheduled for 2024 (each from 09:00 to 17:00):
Every year in November, the flea market "Grosse Burgdorfer Broccante" is also held in the Burgdorf Market Hall for collectors and bargain hunters. The Langnau flea market will also take place on the Viehmarktplatz on 5 May 2024.
A visitor's tax is also due in the municipality of Langnau. For the year 2024, this is set at CHF 1.00 per adult aged 16 and older per sleepover. We kindly ask you to bring the money for the visitor's tax with you in cash at check-in.
